America's best braid has gone ultra finesse. Introducing CAST BFS Performance braid. By the time of us hitting publish on this blog post, BFS braid has been over twelve months in development to finally get in the hands (and on the reels) of the CAST Fam. We're stoked with the finished product and we are fired up for y'all to try it!!!

PURPOSEFUL BY DESIGN
The BFS (Bait Finesse System) fishing niche has been exponentially gaining momentum in America and even around the world. There's a really good reason for that. It's just so fun! But in many situations, it's also very necessary. And look, if you find yourself here and the BFS concept is something new to you, think of it simply like this: cast as light of a lure, on as light of a line, on as light of a rod and baitcaster reel, as you possibly can. We highly recommend giving it a go.
It's a particular fishing style we here at CAST absolutely love, and we wanted our passion for BFS angling and hours upon hours spent on the water with a BFS setup in-hand, to inform the development of a line to address the biggest determining factors we believe makes great ultra finesse equipment. Reel and rod companies have evolved and innovated their offerings, especially in recent years, to facilitate the use of the handling the lightest possible lures with the lightest possible line, and presenting the most finesse offerings to highly pressured and fussy fish. So we thought, our purpose built BFS reels and rods and lures really deserve a purposefully developed line to make the whole outfit really come together. Right? I mean after all, what's the point in using such ultra finesse gear without having the upmost confidence in the thing that's literally keeping you connected to that beast of a fish you were silly, or brave, or ambitious enough to cast at with that absolute noodle of a combo in your hand! So here's what we did.

TECH SPECS
Let's get you acquainted with BFS Performance braid and go over the technical stuff...
BFS braid is engineered for the anglers who demand the highest performance in finesse fishing, delivering incredible strength in such a fine diameter line. Available in 8lb (dia. 0.14mm) and 10lb (dia. 0.16mm) line class options, BFS braid undergoes the same processes those familiar of our industry-leading X12 Casting braid might already know about to achieve this. BFS Performance braid undergoes our special high stitch production process. This process eliminates any air gaps and binds the braid fibres tighter together, shrinking the diameter and thus increasing breaking strain capabilities! After that, BFS Performance braid also features our proprietary water repellant coating, meaning your line won't absorb water during long days fishing, it will keep casting maximum distances for you for longer, and the line's longevity is significantly improved.
What all that means for you, the angler? Casting those ultra light lures on BFS gear has never been easier, both in terms of distance and pinpoint accuracy casting. You can rely on all-day consistent long casting and fish-fighting performance from your BFS braid. You can also count on a line with a long lifespan and not feel like you have to constantly respool your BFS reels. The days of feeling shackled by waterlogged line limitations are a thing of the past. And on that whole confidence thing we were talking about earlier, you'll have increased confidence of landing that next MEGA, knowing you've got a braid that punches well above what it's super fine diameter would have you typically think.

GRAPE'S SO GOOD
Next up, lets talk that color!
Striking. Different. Sick! BFS comes in a rich purple/grape colorway. We tossed around a bunch of ideas, went through sample after sample, combed through pantone palettes to settle on this new color, and give BFS its own character alongside its big bro X12. But! There was one thing we were incredibly conscious of during this decision making process, a problem with line we want to address. That being, braid colorways always look great when first wound onto a spool, but they always seem to leech their color super quickly. We set out to fix that. by incorporating what we like to call Color-Lock technology into our BFS braid. This manufacturing process ensures to the best of our abilities your new line can maintain its color, and in turn, also maintain visibility while you're on the water. And just quietly, we'd be lying if we didn't say we want to make sure it looks epic on your BFS combo for as long as possible too.

THE WHOLE WHY
Why should I go BFS?
Not only is BFS angling a whole heap of fun, but it's also very practical. In 2025 and heading into the future, it's only going to become more and more necessary. BFS fishing is all about precision fishing with ultra light tackle. As innovations like livescope, and the insane rise of fishing's popularity in recent years has really put more pressure on our fisheries than ever before. BFS is a weapon in your arsenal to put the balance back in your favor. It's the literal embodiment of the saying 'go light to get the bite'. BFS equipment are tools tasked to solve the practicality problems anglers face when using such light gear, such as casting distance and accuracy limitations, line management issues, ultimately how you present a lure to fish.
BFS excels in situations you need to drastically downsize your lure presentation to match the hatch, or downsize line class to fool picky and easily spooked target species, or present your offering as subtly as possible. In all these situations, your current setup will often falter, not because it's not good, but simply because it wasn't designed to do what you need it to do to catch that fish. Your typical setups probably are not rated to cast lures or use line that light, and will let you down in terms of castability, sensitivity, accuracy and efficiency. BFS gear changes that for you.
It's purposely designed to punch that really small and light lure you need to use accurately through the air, even to distances you might not have even thought possible with such light tackle, all while keeping the line coming off your spool and traveling through your rod's guides in check. That light lure and thinner diameter line can land on the water and come into that target species' awareness with far less likelihood of spooking it. The fish commits to biting because your presentation has matched the hatch and then you lock in to wrangle it into your hands. And when that fight begins, you'll be stoked you were using a purposefully designed BFS braid to get your lure in front of that fish, and can have confidence your line will make you feel like bringing a knife to a gun fight was actually an alright idea!
That line is our new BFS Performance braid. Confidence inspiring line.
